Rafael Benitez disappointed with Henri Lansbury conduct

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez suggests he was disappointed with the conduct of Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury during his side's 2-1 defeat on Friday.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has suggested that he would like the Football Association to review two incidents involving Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury.

Jonjo Shelvey was sent off for his part in a tussle with Lansbury on the edge of the area before the Forest player went down in the box under pressure from Paul Dummett, who was also dismissed in the first half.

After playing for over 45 minutes with nine men, Newcastle went on to lose the game by a 2-1 scoreline, and while Benitez revealed after the match that he did not have any complaints over Shelvey's red card, he has questioned the sportsmanship of Lansbury, who appeared to initiate the incident between the pair before exaggerating his reaction to minimal contact from Shelvey.

The 56-year-old is quoted by Chronicle Live as saying: "Everything was against us. You could see we had a lot of things in the game that we could complain.

"But I was really surprised by the number 10 Lansbury by the way he was acting twice for the penalty and also Jonjo Shelvey, maybe he is proud of himself.

"If the referee can't see that he was kicking Jonjo before...I will not defend Jonjo, he made a mistake, but he was kicking Jonjo from behind. After he was acting. Sometimes the FA take action with the other player, so maybe they have to analysis."

Newcastle have now suffered successive defeats in the Championship, while they were also knocked out of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
