Mehdi Abeid is hoping to make his first appearance for Newcastle United in the near future.
The 19-year-old Algerian joined the Magpies in May from French club RC Lens but has yet to make his league debut for the club.
With ongoing injuries to Cheick Tiote and Danny Guthrie, the young midfielder believes that his chance to impress may come sooner rather than later.
"I hope my chance comes soon - I really want to play for this team," he told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle. "I'll wait for my chance, and when I get it, I hope to do well and show what I can do. I hope to do a lot for this club.
"I train every day here to get a chance with the first team. Every day I try to show what I can do, and what I can give to the team in the future.
"I'm really happy to work with everyone here."
Abeid featured for Newcastle during their League Cup tie against Nottingham Forest earlier this season.
