Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has said that he was satisfied to take a point from his side's Premier League opener against Southampton at St James' Park.
The Saints took the lead through Graziano Pelle, but Papiss Cisse levelled just before the break for the home side.
The Dutchman opened his account early in the second half to put them ahead, although Steve McClaren's men were denied the victory as Shane Long struck to earn the visitors a draw.
"We played very well, especially in the first half," Wijnaldum told the club's official website.
"We created a few chances and if we had scored the goals we would have won the game, easily. Unfortunately that didn't happen but we cannot be too disappointed with a draw."
Newcastle face Swansea City in their next match on Saturday at the Liberty Stadium.
