Leicester City forward Islam Slimani has reportedly passed his medical ahead of his proposed loan move to Newcastle United.
Slimani arrived in the North-East earlier today after the two clubs had agreed a deal which will see the Algerian spend the remainder of the 2017-18 season at St James' Park.
Sky Sports News now reports that Slimani has passed his medical with the Magpies and is due to be confirmed as a Newcastle player before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline.
Slimani would only be Newcastle's second January signing following the loan arrival of Kenedy from Chelsea, although they are also thought to be closing in on a deal for goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
Slimani joined the Foxes in a club-record £28m deal in 2016, but has started just two Premier League games for the club this season.
