Newcastle United midfielder Sylvain Marveaux is a loan target for Montpellier, reports in France suggest.
Both clubs are said to have agreed to the deal in principle, though wages are holding up the move according to GFN France.
The Premier League club hope for Montpellier to pay all of Marveaux's wages, whereas the 2011-12 French champions want Newcastle to cover a portion of the player's pay.
Despite this, negotiations are reportedly at an advanced stage and the Frenchman is expected to move back to Ligue 1 after failing to hold down a starting place under Alan Pardew.
Marveaux's compatriot Remy Cabella moved in the opposite direction last week, with the France international signing for the Tyneside club on a six-year deal.
