Newcastle United have reportedly been offered the services of Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen.
Allen looks likely to leave relegated Stoke this summer as he looks for a move to a Premier League side.
According to Chronicle Live, the Magpies have been offered his signature but the 28-year-old wants guaranteed first-team football at his new club.
However, Rafael Benitez's side already have the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Mohamed Diame as midfield options, and the Tyne and Wear club may not be able to offer a starting spot to the Welshman.
The report adds that midfielder Mikel Merino could be on his way out of the club, meaning that a space could open up in the squad for Allen.
