Chris Hughton has admitted that he would be delighted with getting a result against Manchester United in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.
The two sides meet in the fourth round of the competition at Old Trafford tonight, with the Canaries in a poor recent run of form which has led them to a place in the Premier League relegation zone.
However, Hughton feels that any sort of result against the league champions can give Norwich a much-needed injection of confidence heading into November.
"We know our main priority is the league, but one game leads into another," Hughton said in a press conference. "Winning games becomes a habit and at this moment we would settle for any type of win, whether that be a fortunate one or whatever.
"There's nothing that breeds confidence like a good performance and a win. But we know how difficult the task is. For us to get a win at Old Trafford would be a big ask and a big achievement. First and foremost you want to put in a performance that says you've come up here not just to make up the numbers. Any result that we get there will give us a real lift.
"Sometimes it's that little bit of luck. Perhaps we're not getting so much of the rub of the green at the moment, but you have to have belief in what you're doing. It might be an own goal, it might be a scrappy goal, it might be a deflection that changes that."
The match gets underway at 7.45pm.
