Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has insisted that Russell Martin fully deserved his new contract with the club.
The 27-year-old agreed to extend his stay at Carrow Road earlier today when he signed fresh terms until the summer of 2016.
Having convinced the Scotland international to commit his future to the Canaries, Hughton was full of praise for the defender.
"It's about players earning a new deal and I'm delighted to be extending Russell Martin's contract," he told the club's official website.
"Russ has played his full part not just in helping us to achieve our finishing position last season, but of course in the club's massive successes over the previous three seasons and he's certainly earned his new contract."
Martin joined Norwich from Peterborough United in 2010.
