Oxford United and Exeter City played out a goalless encounter in League Two this evening on a night where extreme weather caused problems for teams across the league's grounds.
Oxford started the game imposingly as Dave Kitson freed James Constable down the left, but the striker's driven cross went straight across goal with none of his teammates choosing to gamble.
Exeter played most of the opening exchanges on the counter and they looked dangerous as Liam Sercombe broke free to cross to John O'Flynn, but goalkeeper Ryan Clarke saved to keep the scores level.
Constable almost put his side into the lead heading into half time as he looked to make the most of a cross that was missed by the Exeter goalkeeper, but the ball flashed just inches past the advancing striker as the sides went into half time at 0-0.
In what turned out to be a scrappy second half, Kitson wasted a good opportunity when a cross was swung in, with the striker only able to glance wide.
As the teams headed towards the end of the game facing a draw, Kitson was involved again as he crossed for Sean Rigg, whose effort flew narrowly wide as the game ended 0-0.
