Palermo forward Fabrizio Miccoli has revealed that coach Gian Piero Gasperini gave the team "a good telling off" after surrendering a two-goal lead at home to AC Milan.
Goals from Riccardo Montolivo and Stephan El Shaarawy rescued the Rossoneri as they looked to be headed for their sixth defeat of the season.
Miccoli's first-half penalty had given the hosts a half-time lead before Franco Brienza doubled their advantage moments after the restart.
The 33-year-old, who has scored four goals in 10 games this season, admitted his relief at the final whistle.
"The coach gave us a good telling off and he was right to," Football Italia quotes Miccoli as saying. "The result was half a defeat for us because we should have closed out the game.
"To be honest, it is a good job that the game finished when it did because we even risked losing that one. Our performance dipped as the tie went on."
Palermo are scrapping at the foot of Serie A.
