Parma have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia by recording a 2-1 victory over Cagliari this evening.
In a first half of few chances, the hosts took the lead just before the break when a free kick was flicked into the path of Gabriel Paletta, who reacted quickly to volley an overhead kick into the net.
The visitors looked for a way back into the match and they drew level midway through the second half when Marco Sau tapped in from close range after Diego Farias's shot had been saved.
Cagliari looked the more likely side to grab the win, but with six minutes of the match left it was Parma who scored the second goal as Andrea Rispoli crashed a low strike beyond the reach of Simone Colombi.
It proved to be the winning goal, as Parma held on to book a meeting with Juventus in the last eight of the cup.
