Ten-man PEC Zwolle beat Groningen 2-0 this evening to end a four-match winless in the Eredivisie.
Tomas Necid added to an early Johan Kappelhof own goal in the second half before getting sent off, but Zwolle hung on to climb to fourth in the table.
Groningen were on a three-game unbeaten streak heading into the contest but gave themselves a mountain to climb when Johan Kappelhof put into his own net on five minutes.
Necid struck 13 minutes into the second half to increase Zwolle's advantage with his fifth goal of the season.
The Czech international striker made what should have been a comfortable finale for his teammates that little bit more anxious when he was shown a straight red card for a reckless lunge on Jarchinio Antonia.
However, Zwolle had already done enough for the points which see them climb two places in the table.
