A ninth-minute penalty from Steven McGarry was the difference as Perth Glory recorded a 1-0 victory over Sydney FC.
The early goal from the Scot was enough to earn Glory their second A-League success of the season, which takes them into second position in the league table.
The spot kick was awarded to the home side after Ryo Nagai was brought down in the box by Sydney goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic, and McGarry made no mistake with his 12-yard effort.
The visitors responded with several attempts on goal, and Perth had Danny Vukovic to thank for keeping them ahead at the break.
Sydney introduced Alessandro Del Piero in the second half, but he couldn't find an equaliser for his team.
