Vincent Nogueira scored a 92nd-minute winner for Philadelphia Union as they claimed a 2-1 victory over New York City tonight.
The Union took the lead just before the half-hour mark as Eric Ayuk Mbu netted his first goal in the MLS, putting the hosts ahead going into half time.
However, David Villa, making his fourth appearance for New York City, picked up a messy goalmouth scramble, kept his composure and tapped into an empty net, scoring the second MLS goal of his career.
The 33-year-old had two chances late on in the game to snatch the victory but both of his close-range free kicks failed to beat the keeper.
Andrew Wenger's curling effort in the 90th minute for the Union came close to winning it for the home side but sailed harmlessly over.
There was one more chance in the game for the winner and it fell to the Union as a save was palmed into the path of Nogueria, who managed to keep his shot low and hard into a crowded net, to steal the much-needed three points.
The victory is Philadelphia's first in 2015 and NYC's second defeat since the campaign started.
