Poland end their preparations for the World Cup in style by registering a 4-0 victory over Lithuania.

Poland have completed their preparations for the World Cup with a 4-0 over Lithuania.

Adam Nawalka's team have been drawn alongside Senegal, Colombia and Japan in the group stages in Russia, and the White and Reds will take confidence into the tournament later this month.

A strong starting lineup was selected for the game in Warsaw and Poland wasted little time in taking the lead, with Robert Lewandowski firing into the bottom corner from inside the penalty area in the 19th minute.

Just after the half-hour mark, the Bayern Munich frontman netted his second with a well-struck effort and it should have been three before half time with Arkadiusz Milik and Dawid Kownacki both squandering chances.

Nawalka made substitutions at the halfway stage, with Juventus stopper Wojciech Szczesny being introduced at the break and Lewandowski being withdrawn just after the interval.

However, the alterations - four in total by the 53rd minute - did not prevent Poland from winning at a canter as Kownacki extended his nation's lead from close range after the game had moved into the final quarter.

The referee got VAR involved for Poland's fourth goal, with the official checking that Algis Jankauskas had handled inside of the penalty area, and Jakub Blaszczykowski stepped up to find the bottom corner from 12 yards soon after being sent on from the bench.

POLAND (4-4-1-1): Fabianski (Szczesny 46'); Jedrzejczyk (Piszczek 46'), Bednarek (Pazdan 53'), Clonek, Rybus (Blaszczykowski 74'); Bereszynski, Krychowiak (Zielinski 77'), Goralski, Kownacki; Milik; Lewandowski (Teodorczyk 46')

LITHUANIA (4-2-3-1): Bartkus; Baravykas (Borovskij 74'), Jankauskas (Mikuckis 90'), Girdvainis, Vaitkunas; Vorobjovas, Paulius (Slivka 58') ; Novikovas, Verbickas, Cernych (Lasickas 26'); Sernas (Laukzemis 73')
