The Portland Timbers have secured a 1-0 victory over Western Conference rivals Real Salt Lake, with both fighting for an MLS Cup playoff spot.
Caleb Porter's visiting side came close to taking the lead just after 20 minutes, but Nick Rimando did well to keep Fanendo Adi's low attempt out of his net.
Five minutes into the second half, Claret and Cobalt defender Jamison Olave was given a straight red card after bringing down Timbers forward Lucas Melano in the penalty area.
Adi stood up for the kick, slotting the ball into the back of the net for his 13th goal of the season.
As a result, the Timbers are now tied with the Seattle Sounders on 47 points in the MLS Western Conference.
