Orlando City recorded a 2-0 win over Portland Timbers in an MLS inter-conference clash at Providence Park on Sunday.
Goals from Cyle Larin and Kaka were enough for the visitors in the two teams' first ever meeting.
Kaka went close on 15 minutes with a free kick, and the Brazilian was unlucky to see the effort fizz wide before Darlington Nagbe forced a save for Portland with a fierce strike from range.
Larin opened the scoring on the half-hour mark when he headed home a quick cross that caught the Timbers off guard.
Fanendo Adi almost restored parity from Alven Powell's cross on 68 minutes, but the attempt flashed past the post.
Kaka wrapped up the win for Orlando from the penalty spot late on after seeing his initial spot-kick saved, before the referee blew for encroachment to give the ex-AC Milan star the chance of a re-take.
