Vancouver Whitecaps ended a run of two successive defeats by drawing 1-1 away to Portland Timbers this morning.
Portland laid siege to their opponents' goal in the early stages, with Dairon Asprilla and Will Johnson going close in the first 15 minutes.
Jordan Harvey had the Whitecaps' best chance of the half when he headed Mauro Rosales's teasing cross over the bar shortly before the half-hour mark.
It proved a costly miss, as Diego Valeri bent his effort around David Ousted on 33 minutes to give the hosts a slender lead at the break.
On 57 minutes, the Canadian outfit levelled matters in style when Matias Laba's fierce long-range drive found the bottom corner from 30 yards.
Portland grew on top but the hosts struggled to make the most of their dominance, with Harvey dismissed late on.
Harvey was followed down the tunnel by Johnson, who was dismissed after the final whistle following a melee as both sides lost a player.
