Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton is confident that Kelvin Etuhu will sign a new two-year contract with the club.
The midfielder joined the club in January on a month-to-month deal and managed to score one goal in 13 appearances as Pompey were relegated to League One.
The 23-year-old has said that he is happy to stay at Fratton Park, but Appleton is aware that the player has been attracting interest from other clubs.
"It will probably be a two-year deal and, hopefully, he will accept that and is ready to stay with us," said Appleton.
"I think he has proven his worth since we gave him an opportunity and he helped push us hard in a difficult end to the season.
"It's something I would like sorted out quickly and Kelvin has indicated to me he would like to stay with us."
Etuhu started off his career as a youth player at Premier League champions Manchester City.
