Wes Fogden struck a 70th-minute winner as Portmouth edged out Bristol Rovers 3-2 in a five-goal encounter at Fratton Park this afternoon.
It was the hosts who took the lead after 12 minutes through Adam Webster, who bagged his second goal in as many matches by firing beyond the reach of Steve Mildenhall from the edge of the area.
However, the lead proved relatively short-lived as the visitors were back on level terms just 10 minutes later, with Matt Harrold watching on as his deflected effort squirmed past goalkeeper Trevor Carson.
Pompey thought that they had done enough to secure a half-time lead when Ryan Taylor found the back of the net on 39 minutes, but Harrold struck an immediate riposte directly from the kickoff.
The pendulum swung the way of Andy Awford's men once more on 70 minutes as Taylor turned provider to tee up Fogden, who converted from close range to bag his first Portsmouth goal and seal the three points.
