Scott Laird has said that he would like to return to the pitch before the end of the season.
The Preston North End defender, who has not played since breaking his leg in November, returned to training of the weekend.
The 24-year-old told the Lancashire Evening Post: "We're just under four weeks away from the end of the season, and who knows, I might get a place on the bench before then.
"I won't make any promises about that, but in an ideal world I might sneak in there.
"But the team has to come first, even if we're only talking about 10 minutes at the end of a game then I'll have to earn that right."
Preston are currently 16th in League One.
