Rotherham United beat Preston North End 3-1 to book their place in the League One playoff final.

Rotherham United will meet Leyton Orient at Wembley for a place in the Championship after a 3-1 win against Preston North End in their playoff semi-final second leg this evening.

Paul Gallagher gave PNE the lead after 16 minutes when his flighted delivery evaded everyone and bounced into the far corner.

However, the Millers were back in it on 23 minutes when Ben Pringle's cross was turned home by Wesley Thomas.

Steve Evans's side then took the lead 10 minutes later when Lee Frecklington scored his 13th goal of the season after he headed home another delivery from Pringle.

John Welsh came close to leveling things up at the death of the half when Adam Collin spilled his long-range shot, but fortunately for the goalkeeper, the effort ended up bouncing wide.

On 66 minutes, the impressive James Tavernier raced away down the right before dipping inside, and his cut back was met by Kieran Agard who turned it home with a low effort to give his side a two-goal advantage.

Joe Garner nearly reduced the deficit with 10 minutes remaining but Collin managed to get the slightest of fingertips to the effort to turn it onto the crossbar.

Simon Grayson's side fought on enthusiastically in an effort to get themselves back in the tie, but the Millers stood firm to book their place at Wembley against Leyton Orient in 10 days' time.
