Dani Alves has claimed that Neymar convinced him to join Paris Saint-Germain as the attacker was himself negotiating a move to the Parc des Princes.
The Brazil full-back reportedly snubbed a move to Manchester City to link up with PSG in mid-July, while Neymar completed his world-record transfer to the Ligue 1 club in August.
Speaking after PSG's 2-0 win over Amiens, Alves told reporters: "It was he who advised me to come here because he was himself ready to come. Having my friends close to me is always a pleasure, a great honour. I'm sure we'll try to help him be happy here.
"I have nothing to do with it. Neymar is big now. He is no longer the young boy who has arrived in Barcelona. At that time, yes, I helped Neymar and advised him to come to Barcelona. But not here in Paris. I have done practically nothing."
Neymar missed his new club's opening-day victory as his international transfer certificate was not lodged in time for him to feature in the match.
