Joey Barton is facing an FA investigation over his criticism of Wolves player Karl Henry on Twitter.
Barton scored the opening goal in QPR’s 3-0 win over Wolves, but the match was marred by clashes between Barton and Henry.
Speaking on Twitter after the game, the QPR captain made a number of remarks against his opponent.
"I bet you Kelvin Henry feels like an idiot again today. He should just keep his trap firmly shut," Barton told his audience.
“Wasn't happy another player tried to cause an injury when the game nearly over. Just cos he's inferior in every way, (sic)” he added.
Barton also directed his criticism towards Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, saying: “Wolves snubbed me I read in this morning papers...don't know what Mick's been smoking."
Barton continued his criticism of Henry on Goals on Sunday, repeatedly calling the player ‘Kelvin’ and accusing him of being out to hurt other players.
Barton was recently subject to a Twitter curfew ahead of his QPR debut.
