Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton is on his way to Portugal for a holiday today after being released from police custody on bail last night.
The 29-year-old was released by Merseyside Police yesterday, along with three other males, pending further inquiries regarding an incident which took place outside Garlands nightclub in Liverpool on Monday morning.
Barton, who was arrested for affray, took to Twitter after his release and wrote: "Looking forward to Portugal now tomo. Bit of rest and lots of golf..."
In 2008, Barton was given a six-month jail term after admitting assault and affray during an incident in Liverpool.
