Queens Park Rangers youngster Michael Doughty is hoping to impress manager Mark Hughes during the club's pre-season tour of Asia.
The 19-year-old, who made his debut during an FA Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers last season, was included in Hughes's 26-man that made the trip earlier this week.
Having been handed the opportunity to prove his worth, the midfielder has expressed his willingness to grasp the opportunity with both hands.
"Any opportunity I get to impress the manager is important for me and I will be looking to take that as much as I can," he told the club's official website. "The club is obviously moving forward and has a lot of quality players but if I can stay in and around the squad and continue to develop as a footballer, hopefully that will stand me in good stead.
"The manager has made it clear to us that if we are doing well and impressing, we will all get an opportunity and it's up to us to take that.
"It would be good if I could use this opportunity as a springboard to hopefully get into the first team."
Doughty is the son of late Nottingham Forest owner Nigel Doughty.
