Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey has claimed that Charlie Austin was "destined" for his England call-up.
The striker was named in Roy Hodgson's squad for the first time on Thursday ahead of the team's games against Republic of Ireland and Slovenia.
Having scored 17 Premier League goals so far this season, Ramsey believes that it was only a matter of time before the 25-year-old was recognised at international level.
"I'm really pleased for Charlie and for what he's achieved," he told the club's official website. "With Charlie's attitude and his knack of scoring of goals, I think he was always destined to get his opportunity to be in the squad. I'm hoping he gets an opportunity to get on the field and achieve his dream."
QPR finish the season tomorrow when they face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
