Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that Joey Barton apologised to his teammates following his red card against Leicester City on Saturday.
The midfielder picked up two yellow cards towards the end of the Championship fixture at Loftus Road, which QPR ended up losing 1-0.
Barton will now miss the team's trip to promotion rivals Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.
"Joey's been excellent for us but he doesn't need to get involved in that sort of stuff," Redknapp is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
"He's a fantastic player, he's great in the dressing room. He's apologised to the lads. I can't fault him since I've been here, he's been top class."
Barton returned to QPR over the summer after spending last season on loan in France with Marseille.
