Bordeaux manager Willy Sagnol has branded Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton "stupid".
The former Bayern Munich and France right-back claimed that the R's midfielder's career has been blighted by off-field issues and accused him of hypocrisy.
He told La Journal de Dimanche: "I too could generalise and say that all English footballers are stupid, even though they aren't.
"But Barton, yes, he is stupid. He has never won anything, his career is full of problems. The fact that he seeks to give lessons to others is a bit out of place."
The outspoken Barton recently condemned the Gaza conflict on Twitter.
