Queens Park Rangers and Burnley play out a goalless draw in their Championship fixture at Loftus Road.

Queens Park Rangers have begun life under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with a goalless draw against Burnley.

It took Joey Barton just two minutes to get a shot on goal on his return to Loftus Road, but after the Burnley midfielder saw his shot comfortably dealt with by Rob Green, QPR dominated the rest of the first half.

Matt Phillips directed a half-volley just over the crossbar, before James Perch wasted two opportunities in quick succession.

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton denied Phillips on the half-hour mark, before the opening 45 minutes ended with Leroy Fer failing to make the most of a couple of openings.

In sharp contrast to the first half, Burnley controlled the game after the restart, with Green having to be alert to save from both Andre Gray and Scott Arfield.

The home side attempted to hit back through Fer, but his header was always looping over the bar, and with 30 minutes remaining, Hasselbaink introduced Charlie Austin into the action.

The forward almost made an immediate impact after playing in Karl Henry, but the midfielder was denied by Heaton from six yards.

As the game entered the final 15 minutes, Barton sent a ball in towards Sam Vokes, but the Welsh international was only able to head onto the roof of the net.

Gray also threatened during the closing stages, while Grant Hall had a header cleared off the line in added-on time, but both teams were made to settle for a point, a result that does not particularly help either side.
