Newport County have held Queens Park Rangers to a 0-0 draw as both sides continued their pre-season preparations at Rodney Parade this afternoon.
Both sides had opportunities early on, as Lenell John-Lewis drilled narrowly wide of the post, while QPR forward Sebastian Polter was denied by Joe Day on five minutes.
The Championship side grew stronger as the minutes ticked on and new signing Jay Emmanuel-Thomas forced Day into another smart save midway through the half.
Polter headed over from the resulting corner, while at the other end Scott Boden almost broke the deadlock but Robert Green was on hand to preserve parity.
A raft of second-half substitutions affected the game's fluency, with both outfits struggling to fashion the same volume of chances as the previous half.
Arguably the best chance fell to Polter in the final quarter, but the German - signed from Mainz this summer - slipped at the pivotal moment.
Matty Phillips thought that he had won it for Rangers at the death, but his goal was ruled out for offside as the spoils were shared.
