Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has revealed that his proposed move to Marseille is unlikely to come to pass.
The controversial 29-year-old was expected to leave Loftus Road this summer after expressing his intentions to call time on his QPR career.
Despite the former Newcastle United midfielder claiming that his "heart" was already in France, it appears that the R's are not willing to let him leave for Ligue 1.
Barton tweeted: "Been forced to go back training with the kids and fellow Taliban members at 2pm today. Doesn't look like this Marseille thing is gonna happen now. 'Whatever doesn't kill you make you stronger' #heartbroken."
The ex-Manchester City player added: "Why can't things just be simple. Maybe this is time to dumb down and be dishonest. It seems to take you a long way in this game."
News of a possible exit for Barton came to light after he was hit with a 12-match ban for two separate incidents of violent conduct during QPR's final game of last season against Man City.
