Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that he wants to sign Mauro Zarate on loan.
The Argentine looks certain to leave West Ham United in January after Hammers boss Sam Allardyce said that the forward was "not good enough" for a regular place in his XI.
"He's a clever player," Redknapp told reporters when questioned on a potential move for the 27-year-old.
"He can open the door. I first came across him when he was at Birmingham quite a few years back. Alex McLeish had him there. Its not done and dusted yet but it is something we are interested in."
Zarate joined West Ham from Velez Sarsfield in the summer.
