Barcelona have confirmed that Brazilian forward Raphinha suffered "a left hamstring injury" during Thursday's Spanish Super Cup semi-final with Osasuna.

The 27-year-old had to be withdrawn in the latter stages of the first half of the last-four clash, which Xavi's side won 2-0 courtesy of second-half goals from Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal.

Xavi said during his pre-match press conference that Raphinha had "hamstring discomfort", and the club have now confirmed the injury with an official statement.

"Tests carried out today have shown that Raphinha has a left hamstring injury. He is out and his recovery will determine his availability," said the La Liga champions.

Barcelona have not put a timeframe on his recovery, but according to Spanish journalist Roger Torello, the nature of the problem could mean that he is on the sidelines for the next month.

Raphinha could therefore miss as many as eight games for the Catalan outfit, starting with Sunday's Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid.

The South American is also seemingly facing a race against the clock to return in time for Barcelona's Champions League last-16 clash against Napoli on February 21.

Raphinha has already spent two periods out of the side this season due to suspension and injury, but he has contributed four goals and seven assists in 20 appearances.

There was positive news on the injury front against Osasuna, though, with Pedri coming off the bench for the final 30 minutes after recovering from a muscular issue.

"We have been suffering with injuries throughout the season, we know that it is very difficult with so many games and that the demands on Barca are at the highest level," Barcelona sporting director Deco told reporters after the two-goal success over Osasuna.

"It's a shame to lose Raphinha but we are getting Pedri back. We're a bit used to it but it's a shame because he's an important player for us."

Meanwhile, Xavi said in his post-match press conference that Pedri was "fine" and in line to feature from the first whistle in El Clasico on Sunday night.

Joao Cancelo and Inigo Martinez are with the squad preparing for the final of the Spanish Super Cup, but neither were on the bench against Osasuna due to injury problems, and it remains to be seen whether either player will recover in time for the game with Carlo Ancelotti's side. body check tags ::
