Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Atletico Madrid

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's La Liga showdown with Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid head into Saturday's derby with Atletico Madrid holding a three-point advantage at the top of the La Liga standings.

After Barcelona lost out to Valencia on Saturday, Los Blancos recorded maximum points against Real Valladolid on Sunday evening to move clear of their fierce rivals.

Despite the narrow lead, Zinedine Zidane will demand that there is no complacency when they square off against their neighbours at the Bernabeu.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the upcoming clash.

Eden Hazard

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: February 1 (vs. Atletico)

Hazard has been absent for Real since suffering a hairline fracture to his foot in December. However, having returned to training in recent days, the Belgian playmaker is hoping to make the substitutes' bench for the weekend's game.

Marco Asensio

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

As it stands, no date has been pencilled in for Asensio's return from a serious knee injury, which was sustained during pre-season. However, the playmaker could make his return during the closing months of the campaign.

Gareth Bale

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: February 1 (vs. Atletico)

After sustaining a minor ankle injury in the Copa del Rey last week, Bale missed out against Valladolid on Sunday. The Wales international will continue to be assessed before a decision is made regarding his fitness ahead of the derby.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

With Dani Carvajal having served a one-match ban, Real Madrid have no suspension concerns ahead of this game.
