Real Madrid will be missing Aurelien Tchouameni and David Alaba for the Spanish Super Cup, with the pair ruled out of the squad due to injury problems.

On their official website, Los Blancos revealed that both Tchouameni and Alaba had picked up injuries to their lower leg, with the duo now set for spells on the sidelines.

"After the tests carried out on our player Aurelien Tchouameni by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a left soleus injury. Evolution pending," read a statement.

Meanwhile, in relation to Alaba, the statement read: "After the tests carried out today on our player David Alaba by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a right soleus injury. Evolution pending."

Alaba's issue is said to have occurred during the La Liga clash with Villarreal on Saturday despite the fact that he was able to complete the match.

Tchouameni, meanwhile, is said to have suffered his injury during a training session on Monday.

As a result, the pair have been left out of the squad for the Spanish Super Cup, with Carlo Ancelotti's side set to face Valencia in the semi-finals on Wednesday ahead of a possible final with Barcelona or Real Betis on Sunday.

No timeframe has been provided for their recoveries, although there have been suggestions that both players could be on the sidelines for the next two to three weeks.

There is also positive news on the injury front, though, with Alvaro Odriozola and Dani Carvajal fit to travel.

Odriozola had been out with a muscular problem that he picked up in the Copa del Rey clash with Cacereno on January 3, while Carvajal was suffering with muscular overload.

Carvajal could return to the side at right-back, while the absence of Alaba will open the door for Eder Militao to return to the middle of the defence alongside Antonio Rudiger.

Ancelotti has a big decision to make when it comes to the middle of the park, meanwhile, with Federico Valverde potentially moving into that position.

Rodrygo could then come into the front three alongside Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema, although Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Ceballos are options in central midfield.

There is also a spot in the squad for Mariano Diaz, who has recovered from the ankle problem that has kept him out since the team returned to action following the World Cup.

Real Madrid squad for Spanish Super Cup:

Courtois, Lunin, Lopez; Carvajal, Militao, Vallejo, Nacho, Odriozola, Vazquez, Rudiger, Mendy; Kroos, Modric, Camavinga, Valverde, Ceballos, Martin; Hazard, Benzema, Asensio, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Mariano body check tags ::
