Real Madrid will be without the services of three first-team players for Wednesday's La Liga clash with Las Palmas.
Carlo Ancelotti's side will be missing Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao for the majority of the 2023-24 campaign due to serious knee injuries.
Meanwhile, summer signing Arda Guler, who has only just returned to training after recovering from a knee operation, is facing another spell out with a thigh issue.
"After the tests carried out on our player Arda Guler by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the left rectus femoris muscle. Evolution pending," read a statement from Real Madrid, with the issue allegedly occurring in the final stages of Tuesday's training session.
However, there is positive news on the injury front, with Vinicius Junior and Dani Carvajal back in the squad after recovering from recent injuries.
Real Madrid will enter the match off the back of their first defeat of the season, losing 3-1 to Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby on Sunday evening.
"We have to prepare well for the game. Las Palmas are a team that play good football and like to play with the ball and that's why we have to win to react to Sunday's defeat," Ancelotti said during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
"Criticism is part of a coach's job because when you are a Real Madrid coach it is normal that there is criticism when things don't work out. It doesn't affect me.
"But having said that, I have to evaluate in a self-critical way the things we are doing well, which are many, and the things we have done badly, which are few.
"I'm clear that we have to improve the things we did against Atletico. Every system has its weaknesses. The diamond formation is not perfect but it allows us to press higher up the pitch, but the weakness is that sometimes they can find you out of position on the flank."
Ancelotti also defended his decision to start both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos on Sunday, with Aurelien Tchouameni and Joselu on the bench despite their strong form.
"Everyone can say what they want and I have to focus on my job. It's not true that I don't dare to leave Kroos and Modric on the bench in important games because every game is important," he added. "I think Modric and Kroos can play in any system in the world because of their quality, experience and knowledge."
Real Madrid will take on Las Palmas and Girona in their next two league matches before heading to Italy next week for their second group game in the Champions League against Napoli.
