Four teams still have a 100% record in Spain's top flight after the second round of La Liga fixtures were completed this weekend.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have both won their first two games of the new campaign, but sitting first and second respectively are Celta Vigo and Eibar, who have also collected six points from an available six thus far this season.

Week two's action opened on Friday evening as Villarreal came from one goal behind to beat Espanyol 3-1 and move onto four points for the season.

Real Sociedad and Sporting Gijon are still both goalless this season after playing out a 0-0 draw in Saturday's opener, before Barcelona beat Malaga 1-0 courtesy of a second-half strike from Thomas Vermaelen.

Real Madrid then put five unanswered goals past Real Betis at the Bernabeu in Rafael Benitez's first home league game in charge, while Celta, as mentioned, made it two wins from two games with a 3-0 success over Rayo Vallecano.

Athletic Bilbao's early-season struggles continued as they lost 2-0 at second-place Eibar on Sunday, before Atletico recorded an impressive 3-0 victory at Sevilla.

Valencia, however, are still looking for their first league win of the season after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Deportivo La Coruna.

In Sunday's final two fixtures, Las Palmas played out a dull 0-0 draw with Levante, while Granada recorded a 2-1 victory over Getafe in the Spanish capital.

Carlos Kameni (Malaga)
Malaga might have been beaten at Barcelona on Saturday, but that took nothing away from the performance of their goalkeeper, who was sensational between the sticks. The Cameroon international made a whole host of super saves and did not deserve to be on the losing team at the Camp Nou.

Danilo (Real Madrid)
The Brazilian has started the season ahead of Dani Carvajal at right-back and he had a fine home debut for Real Madrid on Saturday. Betis just could not live with the pace and power of the 24-year-old, who never stopped causing problems. He was also defensively sound in the Spanish capital.
Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid)
Godin penned a new long-term contract with Atletico last week and it was only right that he would put in another excellent performance this weekend. Up against the physical threat of Fernando Llorente, the central defender came out on top. He headed everything that came into the penalty area.
Thomas Vermaelen (Barcelona)
After an injury-plagued first season at Barcelona, Vermaelen had a night to remember on Saturday. It was the Belgian's second-half effort which secured his team all three points against Malaga, while he was also impressive at the back. It was a special match for the central defender.

Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)
The Frenchman did not score during Atletico's 3-0 win at Sevilla, but he played a key role in his team's victory. Goals number one and three were set up by the attacker, who also hit the crossbar late on with a rasping effort. Sevilla struggled all game to cope with the brilliant 24-year-old.
Gabi (Atletico Madrid)
The Atletico skipper did not have his best season last term, but this weekend's performance was much more like it. The midfielder scored his team's second of the match against Sevilla, but it was his control of the midfield that impressed the most. Played a crucial role in the collection of three points.
James Rodriguez (Real Madrid)
Was not deemed fit enough to start last weekend, but the Colombian returned to the Real Madrid XI against Betis and put in a five-star performance. Set up Gareth Bale for the first goal of the match, before adding two himself, both of which were excellent. It was an almost faultless performance.
Nolito (Celta Vigo)
Strongly linked with a move to Barcelona this summer, but Celta have seemingly been able to keep the Spaniard, who was so impressive last season. The attacker played a crucial role in Celta's 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano on Saturday – scoring twice, before setting up Andreu Fontas for goal number three.

Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
Will be given licence to roam for Real Madrid this season and the Welshman showed his credentials against Betis on Saturday. Bale opened the scoring in the early stages of the contest, before netting a second from distance late on. The attacker also set up Karim Benzema for Real's third.
Roberto Soldado (Villarreal)
Fears that Soldado had lost his scoring touch following a disappointing spell at Tottenham Hotspur have been dispelled early in the season. The striker scored Villarreal's equaliser against Espanyol on Friday evening, before setting up Cedric Bakambu for both of the 24-year-old's late goals.
Cedric Bakambu (Villarreal)
Bakambu did not enter Villarreal's home match against Espanyol until the 64th minute, but he still found the time to make some impression. On his home debut for the Yellow Submarine, the striker scored twice in the latter stages to ensure that Marcelino's side collected all three points.
