Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that Angel di Maria 'made a mistake' if he gestured towards the home supporters during the 3-0 win over Celta Vigo on Monday.
It is understood that the Argentine made an obscene gesture to the crowd after being replaced in the second period, with the player admitting that he felt singled out during the contest.
However, Ancelotti has played down the incident and insisted that "life goes on".
"I didn't see it. I took him off because I thought it was better to put two fresh players out," Ancelotti told reporters at a press conference.
"If he made the gesture, nothing happens. It's a mistake, but who doesn't make mistakes? If he responded with a gesture to the crowd, then it's another mistake, but life goes on.
"He tried to play, just like everyone else did. Sometimes whistles are positive and afterwards the team improved."
Di Maria has been widely linked with a move away from Madrid.
