Atletico Madrid striker Luciano Vietto has revealed his delight after coming off the bench to score an equaliser in Sunday's Madrid derby against Real Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.
The Argentine netted seven minutes from time to cancel out Karim Benzema's first-half header having been introduced by head coach Diego Simeone in the second period.
Vietto has expressed his pleasure at netting in the derby, but has claimed that his team deserved to collect all three points.
"We were able to rescue an important point in an important match and even did enough to win in the end," he told Canal+.
"It was an important game, played with a lot of tension, and the nervousness played tricks on us. However, we had a good second half after we corrected our errors."
"[Diego Simeone] asked me to play between the line and with profundity. When you enter a game, you try to score at least a goal. I hope to help the team and feel well on the pitch."
Vietto joined Atletico from Villarreal in the summer transfer window.
