Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that his side are ready for the tough tests that await them in their Euro 2012 campaign.
Portugal find themselves in the 'group of death' alongside Germany, Denmark and World Cup runners-up Holland, but Ronaldo believes that his side are capable of progressing, starting with a win over Germany in their opening match.
"We want to win, which is obvious, because we want to start the European Championship well, and we know that Germany are a great team, they have had great results in recent competitions. So they're opponents who we respect a lot, but we also have our potential, we have our strengths, and we will do everything to start on the right foot," said the Real Madrid striker.
"We know that we are in the most difficult group of the European Championship, but it isn't anything to regret, because you can't change it, and we have known it for months.
"So therefore we have to be prepared. We don't have any other option - we have to face these countries, who are Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. They will be extremely difficult matches, but I think Portugal will do a good job, and we will progress to the next phase."
Ronaldo, who scored 60 goals in all competitions for Madrid last season, has already expressed his belief that either Spain or Portugal will win the tournament.
