Newcastle United defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has been called up by France coach Didier Deschamps for Wednesday's friendly against Germany in Paris.
The 23-year-old has been selected as a replacement for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, who has picked up a muscle injury.
Uncapped Varane sustained the problem during Madrid's 1-0 defeat to Granada on Saturday night.
"Real Madrid and France doctors agreed that the player was not fit enough to play in the coming days," a statement read.
Yanga-Mbiwa, who joined Newcastle from Montpellier last month, has three senior international caps to his name.
