Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed as champions Atletico Madrid beat rivals Real Madrid 2-1 at the Bernabeu in La Liga.

Atletico Madrid recorded a 2-1 win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in La Liga this evening.

A Cristiano Ronaldo penalty cancelled out an early header from Tiago to leave the teams level at the break.

However, Arda Turan found the net late on to secure a vital three points for the Spanish champions.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed during the all-Madrid affair.

REAL MADRID

Goal

Iker Casillas: Perhaps should have done better for Atletico's first, but was not helped by his defence. Did not have an awful lot to do and cannot really take any blame for the defeat. (6/10)

Defence

Alvaro Arbeloa: Selected in place of the injured Dani Carvajal, but had an erratic evening. Poor in possession of the ball and always looked to have a mistake in him. (5/10)

Sergio Ramos: So often influential for his side, but did not have much of an impact tonight. His use of the ball was decent, but he didn't look as committed as previous games. (6/10)

Pepe: Battled well with the physical Mario Mandzukic, but was guilty of poor positioning for both Atletico goals. Seems to have just lost that yard of sharpness this season. (6/10)

Fabio Coentrao: Did his best to influence proceedings in the final third, but his use of the ball was poor. (6/10)

Midfield

Luka Modric: One of Real Madrid's best players last season, but has started this term in disappointing form. Could not get to grips with events in the middle of the park. (6/10)

Toni Kroos: Demonstrated his range of passing throughout the contest, but was not prepared to put his foot in when the midfield turned into a tough physical battle. (6/10)

James Rodriguez: Still finding his way at the Bernabeu. Has bundles of ability, but still trying to make his mark as a Real Madrid player. Needs to improve. (6/10)

Attack

Gareth Bale: Brilliant for his country during the week, but struggled to influence this match. Hardly threatened in the final third before being replaced in the second period. (6/10)

Karim Benzema: Had two golden chances in the first period, but his touch was poor for the first, before he headed straight at Miguel Moya for the second. Lack of movement harmed his team. (6/10)

Cristiano Ronaldo: Easily his side's best player on the night. Won and scored the first-half penalty, while he was always the one prepared to make things happen in the final third. (7/10)

Substitutes

Javier Hernandez: Entered for his debut in the second period, but hardly had a kick. Will not play against a better defence all season. (5/10)

Isco: Showed some nice touches in the final third, but again failed to influence the match. Another that needs to improve if he is to survive long term at the Bernabeu. (5/10)

Raphael Varane: Entered immediately after Atletico had scored their second and slotted into the back four with ease. Needs to start, with Ramos moving to right-back. (6/10)

ATLETICO MADRID

Goalkeeper

Miguel Moya: Made a brilliant save from a Bale free kick in the first period and was also strong from crosses. Atletico are not missing Thibaut Courtois due to Moya's impressive start. (7/10)

Defence

Juanfran: Another classy showing from the right-back, who marked both Bale and James out of the match. Was able to break forward as the second half progressed. (7/10)

Diego Godin: Was forced into making a couple of poor challenges, but it was another towering performance from the centre-back, who always plays well against Real Madrid. (7/10)

Miranda: Struggling to remember the last time that Miranda had a bad match. The Brazilian was again brilliant in all aspects of his play this evening. (8/10)

Guilherme Siqueira: Gave away a first-half penalty after bringing Ronaldo to the ground and had a couple more nervous moments in defence. Still finding his way in this Atletico XI. (6/10)

Midfield

Koke: Assisted Tiago's header with a brilliant corner, while the Spaniard's use of the ball was impressive. It was an all-action display from the midfielder. (7/10)

Tiago: Not always first choice for Atletico, but is such a class act in the middle of the park. Scored his side's first with a clever header, while his presence in midfield calmed those around him. (8/10)

Gabi: Was somewhat surprisingly replaced on the hour mark, five minutes after picking up a booking. Was overshadowed by teammates Koke and Tiago on the night. (6/10)

Raul Garcia: Did not have much joy in the final third, but it was his excellent step-over that allowed Turan the chance to score the winner for the champions. (7/10)

Attack

Raul Jimenez: Not the best night for the Mexican, who really struggled to influence the game before being replaced after 64 minutes. Worked hard, but had little end product. (6/10)

Mario Mandzukic: Led the line brilliantly for his side. Does not have the explosive pace of Diego Costa, but is an excellent focal point for his team. (7/10)

Substitutes

Arda Turan: Man-of-the-match performance from the Turkish international, who marked his return to the team with a brilliant winner late on. Radiated class each time that he had possession of the ball. (8/10)

Antoine Griezmann: Played his part in Atletico's winner and had a good chance of his own late on. The Frenchman's pace certainly aided his team in the latter stages. (7/10)

Mario Suarez: Introduced 12 minutes from time to protect his defence and indeed performed that job as Real Madrid pressed for a leveller late on. (6/10)
