Real Madrid have reportedly identified Napoli's Fabian Ruiz as the perfect replacement for Luka Modric.
Los Blancos are allegedly open to the idea of selling Modric at the end of the 2019-20 campaign with the Croatia international entering the latter stages of his career.
Modric's excellent form for club and country last year saw him pick up the 2018 Ballon d'Or, but the midfielder turned 34 last month and has struggled for consistency this season.
According to AS, Zinedine Zidane's side are already preparing for life after the 2018 World Cup finalist exits, and Napoli midfielder Ruiz is viewed as the perfect replacement.
The 23-year-old, who has also been linked with Barcelona, is believed to be valued at £54m by his Italian club.
The Spain international moved to Naples from Real Betis in the summer of 2018 and managed seven goals in 40 appearances during his first season with Carlo Ancelotti's side.
