Real Salt Lake kept up the pressure on FC Dallas at the top of the MLS Western Conference with a 3-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes.
The home side were on top from the start and San Jose keeper Jon Busch had to be at his best early on to stop Javier Morales's free kick from finding the net.
However, Busch could do nothing to stop Morales from giving Salt Lake the lead after he parried Robbie Findley's effort straight to the midfielder, who made no mistake in firing the ball into the net.
Real doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute when Morales raided down the right and crossed the ball into the middle, where Joao Plata left it for Ned Grabavoy to slot home.
It was three soon after as Findley curled the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the area after the visitors failed to clear the lines properly from a Plata cross.
After the break, San Jose started to press forward and Nick Rimando had to be at his best to deny Chris Wondolowski, as he beat away the striker's low effort.
The keeper was in the action again minutes later as he produced a good stop to prevent Steven Lenhart's volley from finding the net, which earned him a clean sheet and a comfortable win for his side.
