Real Sociedad have made it through to the next round of the Copa del Rey after beating Real Oviedo 2-0 this evening.
The La Liga side were held to a goalless draw by the third-tier side in the first leg of the last 32 tie, but Alfred Finnbogason scored twice to see them through at home.
The result leaves the team with just one defeat since David Moyes was appointed as manager last month.
Read how all the action unfolded below:
Good evening! Real Sociedad still have work to do this evening as they head into the second leg of their Copa del Rey tie with Real Oviedo this evening. Both clubs have already named their teams, so let's take a look at the lineups.
REAL SOCIEDAD STARTING XI: Rulli, Martinez, Ansotegui, Berchiche, Elustondo, Pardo, Canales, Zurutuza, Gaztanaga, Hervias, Finnbogason
REAL OVIEDO STARTING XI: Magunazelaia, Johannesson, Oscar, Vila, Fernandez, Omgba, Garcia, Generelo, Cervero, Sene, Eneko
REAL SOCIEDAD SUBSTITUTES: Zubikarai, Prieto, Estrada, Oyarzun, Hernandez
REAL OVIEDO SUBSTITUTES: Esteban, Bautista, Nacho, Erice, Allyson
So the hosts are resting top scorer Carlos Vela for this match, just a couple of days after he scored in the Basque derby. The rest of the team have been struggling for goals this season, but Moyes will be hoping that the likes or Hervais and Alfred Finnbogason can rediscover their shooting prowess tonight.
Real Oviedo looked more than capable of causing an upset in the first leg of this tie, in which they held Sociedad to a goalless draw. The club has been flying in the third tier this season, and they currently sit three points clear at the top of the league.
Here's a little peak inside the home dressing room ahead of kickoff:
These two sides have met five times since 2000. Real Oviedo have won just one of the previous meetings, while Sociedad hav two wins and there are two draws.
The players are just making their way out ready for kickoff in a rainy Estadio Anoeta this evening.
PREDICTION! Before the action gets underway, there's just time for a quick prediction. Assuming Oviedo can avoid conceding early, they should give Sociedad a good game, but ultimately the La Liga side should be strong enough to get the job done, so I'm going for a 2-0 win to the hosts this evening.
KICKOFF! The home side get the match underway.
The home side have had the majority of the ball int he opening few minutes, but Oscar makes sure that their attempts to get down field come to nothing. The visitors try to put Sociedad under pressure with a quick counter-attack, but a loose ball is easily deal with by Martinez.
The Oviedo defenders come under pressure for the first time as Zurutuza tries to cross the ball in from the left. His delivery is good, but there are no teammates waiting for it in the box. Hervias quickly wins it back in midfield, but Magunazelaia manages to gather it.
Berchice and Elustondo are both playing quite far forward as Sociedad try to capitalise of their early dominance. Some solid footwork from the latter down the right flank sets up Ruben Pardo for a strike from the edge of the box, but it's scuffed behind.
CHANCE! The hosts test Magunazelaia for the first time as Pardo picks out Hervias in space at the near post, but the winger's flick it straight at the Oviedo keeper.
Real Oviedo try to put their opponents under pressure down the other end, but after Martinez wins the ball back it takes the hosts just a few passes to stretch the third tier side again. Oviedo really haven't settled into this match yet.
Sociedad are trying to find a way into the penalty area again as they continue to look the more likely of the two sides, but Eneko Fernandez is back to make sure that the move stalls.
PENALTY APPEAL! Yuri Berchiche wants a spot kick after he takes a tumble while battling with Fernandez on the edge of the box. He manages to land himself in the penalty area, but the referee isn't convinced that there was a foul or that it was in the area, so he waves for the Sociedad man to get back on his feet.
CHANCES! Magunazelaia has to be alert again as Finnbogason gets himself into space to fire the ball straight at the keeper, before the stopper has to deflect another effort from the striker behind for the first corner of the match moments later.
Geronimo Rulli has his first meaningful touch of the night as Oviedo make a rare foray towards the home side's goal. Sene lobs the ball into the box, but there's no-one forward, so it's an easy take for the keeper.
Sergio Canales thinks that he is through on goal when a high ball forward falls for him on the edge of the box, but he was only open because he pushed Oscar away before wrestling with Johannesson, forcing the referee to give the ball back to Oviedo.
Canales is involved again as the home side continue to press for an opener, this time providing the ball for Hervais, but his delivery has too much power on it, and it goes straight through to the keeper.
CHANCE! Real Oviedo have their first shot of the match, and it's a decent effort from Josep Sene, forcing a diving save from Rulli which gives the visitors a corner. The midfielder struck the ball superbly from 30 yards out and to the left of the target, but still caused problems for the keeper. The hosts are ready for the corner though, quickly getting the ball clear.
CHANCE! The hosts win a free kick just outside the box as Garcia clattered into the back of Pardo. The aggrieved takes it, and goes straight for goal. It looks like his curling attempt is dipping under the bar, but Magunazelaia does just enough to get his fingertips to it and force it over.
GOAL! Real Sociedad 1-0 Real Oviedo (Alfred Finnbogason)
Just short of half an hour into this match, the home side have taken the lead thanks to a clinical finish from Alfred Finnbogason. A long ball forward falls from Pardo finds Hervais just short of the goalline, and the midfielder pulls it back superbly to find the striker just a couple of yards out, leaving Finnbogason with a simple tap in to open the scoring.
The goal has really brought the crowd to life, as the atmosphere around the half-full stadium had been a little lacking so far this evening. Oviedo are trying to get on the attack to give themselves a chance though, but Martinez is ready and makes the block.
It's been quite a tempo from the hosts so far as they've been piling on the pressure to force the opening goal, but a couple of the defenders have now dropped a little deeper, and they're starting to take their time a little more. That said, Jon Gaztanaga has just hurried an effort from over 30 yards out which wasn't that wide of the mark, but still failed to trouble the goalie.
Gaztanaga is involved again as Pardo plays the ball in from out wide, but the winger is unable to latch on to the pass, and looks pretty frustrated as he watches it go behind without him getting a touch to it.
Sociedad are starting to build plenty of pressure again as they're clearly keen to get a second on the board before the break, which you have to feel would all but seal it for the hosts. They force a couple of corners, but Canales's second delivery is deep, surprising his teammates and leaving the Oviedo defenders with an easy task.
The home side are still camped out in the Oviedo half, but their starting to rush a little in the final third as they push for a second goal, and it's costing them some decent opportunities.
HALF TIME: Real Sociedad 1-0 Real Oviedo
So after just a few seconds of stoppage time, the players make their way in for half time with Real Sociedad a goal up. The visitors really haven't been able to hit their stride yet, but have looked dangerous on the rare occasions that they have managed to get forward.
Let's take a look at some of the stats from the first 45 minutes. Sociedad had a whopping 81% possession in the first half, creating seven shots including four on target. While Oviedo's time with the ball was limited, they did create two chances, both of which were on target. The home side have been the more physical of the two, conceding 12 fouls to Oviedo's three, although no players have been booked yet.
Here's a picture that Real Oviedo shared on Twitter at the break. As you can see, it has stopped raining now, but it's still pretty damp at the stadium:
The players are starting to make their way back out ready for the second half. The home side will be optimistic of killing the tie off after their first-half performance, but can Oviedo get back into it? We'll find out over the next 45 minutes.
KICKOFF! The action gets back underway at Estadio Anoeta.
CHANCE! There's an early opportunity for the hosts as Canales is tripped by Ombga just outside the box. Pardo whips is in over the wall, but it curls a little too much, finishing wide of the left upright.
Oviedo are looking a little more lively at the start of this half as Fernandez tries to carve out some space to get a cross in and ends up drawing a foul to win a free kick in a decent position.
CHANCE! From the free kick, Sene tries to get a header away, but his finish is tipped over by Rulli, while Martinez knocks it clear from the resulting corner.
After a couple of tense moments in their own area, Sociedad are back down the other end trying to double their advantage as Finnbogason wins the ball and times his run to try and get another shot away, but the keeper bravely comes out to snatch it away from his feet.
Oviedo are showing more than a few moments of promise early in this second half as Rulli comes under pressure again, but Berchiche is back to help out and hooks it clear.
SUB! The visitors make the first change of the night, taking off captain Diego Cervero and bringing on Allison Santos in his place up front.
CHANCE! The hosts win a free kick and take it quickly, leaving Pardo to fire in a cross for Zurutuza, but his header comfortably clears the crossbar.
Sociedad certainly haven't been able to match their energy levels from the first half, but they still look dangerous on the attack. However, they are letting Oviedo see more of the ball, which is a risky strategy if they fail to get a second goal on the board, as the visitors have looked sharp up front.
GOAL! Real Sociedad 2-0 Real Oviedo (Alfred Finnbogason)
Just as it was starting to look like Oviedo could get themselves back on level terms, it looks like the home side have all but secured their place in the next round thanks to a second goal from Alfred Finnbogason. Once again, the striker was in the right place at the right time to blast the ball in low from close range after an Artiz Elustondo effort moments early was parried straight at him.
PENALTY APPEAL! For the second time this evening the hosts think that they have been denied a spot kick, or at least a free kick as Generelo comes in from behind to bring down Hervais right on the edge of the box. It may have been a bit late, but the challenge looked like it start outside the box, so would have been a free kick at most.
CHANCE! Oviedo are continuing to spent a lot more time in the Sociedad half, and come close to pulling a goal back when Sergio Garcia attempts to drill the ball in, firing just wide.
SUB! The visitors make a second chance, with Dani Bautista replacing Jonathan Vila in defence.
SUB! It's a first change for the hosts as well as Sergio Canales, who has been busy at both ends of the pitch, makes way for Alain Oyarzun.
CHANCE! Ruben Pardo had a chance to end any hopes of an Oviedo comeback then as he tried to smash the ball into the roof of the net, but the keeper just got his hand to it. Meanwhile, on the bench, there are potentially worrying scenes for the hosts as Canales has just had an icepack strapped to his ankle. He did look a little uncomfortable while coming off, but there was no obvious collision to cause an injury.
CHANCE! What a dangerous shot that was from Sergio Garcia! Oviedo haven't given up yet, and almost get one back when the midfielder hits the ball first time, and the ball swerves wildly towards the goal, but Rulli just parries it clear, while Garcia's rebound lacks the venom of his first strike and goes wide.
CHANCE! Yuri Berchiche rests his head in his hands as his sees his effort fly just wide of the post. He weaves past a couple of defenders to get the shot away, but the finishing touch was lacking from the defender.
Oviedo force another corner as they continue to look for a way back into the match. Josep Sene manages to lose his marker in the box, but his header is a fraction wide, while Rulli is clearly livid with his defenders for not watching the dangerman more closely.
SUB! The visitors make their final change as Nacho Lopez comes on for Eneko Fernandez.
There's a worry for the visitors now as, just moments after their final change is make, Sene appears to pull up injured, but it looks like he's going to try and finish to match.
SUBS! It's a late double change for the home side as they take off goalscorer Alfred Finnbogason and David Zurutuza to give Xabi Prieto and Iker Hernandez a run out.
Oviedo's spirit has to be admired as they're continuing to run at Sociedad, despite any chance of reaching the next round surely now gone. A wild ball forward fails to test Rulli though.
Aritz Elustondo gets a challenge on Generelo all wrong, leaving himself in quite some pain. He sneaks up behind the midfielder but mistimes the challenge and ends up clattering into his back before crumpling on the floor. The stretcher comes on, but with no subs left, it looks like he's going to try and pan on.
BOOKING! Finally the referee has to reach for his cards as Generelo pulls Hervais back by his shirt. Meanwhile, there are three minutes of stoppage time to be played.
It looks like Sociedad are just content to keep hold of the ball and let the time run out, although Oviedo are still trying to win it back.
FULL TIME: Real Sociedad 2-0 Real Oviedo (Sociedad win 2-0 on aggregate)
So David Moyes's Real Sociedad survive a tricky tie against third-tier side Real Oviedo to continue their progress in the Copa del Rey. Albert Finnbogason's brace was enough on the night, although they maybe should have scored more in a dominant opening 45 minutes.
