Martin O'Neill plays down advantage of Republic of Ireland's away goal

Republic of Ireland coach Martin O'Neill plays down talk that his country's away goal will give them an advantage over Bosnia-Herzegovina in their Euro 2016 playoff.

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has insisted that the country's away goal against Bosnia-Herzegovina does not give them much of an advantage going into the second leg of their Euro 2016 playoff.

Robbie Brady's goal in the 1-1 draw away in Zenica on Friday means that the Republic would qualify for the tournament with a goalless draw in Dublin, but O'Neill has claimed that Bosnia are more than capable of notching an away strike for themselves.

"I don't think the advantage is with us. Bosnia are capable of scoring a goal," said O'Neill, according to Setanta Sports.

"We got an away goal which helps, but that can be wiped out in a minute.

"I was concerned when the fog came down. What I didn't know until afterwards was that if the game had been called off, we would only have come back for the rest of the game."

The two sides meet for the contest's second leg at the Aviva Stadium on Monday night.
