Iago Falque's goal has given Roma a deserved lead in their Serie A clash against Frosinone at Stadio Matusa.
The hosts had the first efforts on goal through former Aston Villa midfielder Aleksandar Tonev's wayward strike and Robert Gucher's attempted lob from distance, before Falque had Roma's first shot of the game when he fired wide from the edge of the box.
Seydou Keita should have done better with the best chance of the half when he was found by Alessandro Florenzi's inch-perfect free kick, but the Malian could only head wide of the target from a good position.
Florenzi then had a shot blocked as the Rossoneri began to dominate proceedings but Wojciech Szczesny had to be alert to keep out a long-range Tonev drive with a good fingertip save as the hosts countered.
It was Roma who looked the more likely, though, as Edin Dzeko just failed to keep his shot down after being slipped through by Francesco Totti, starting as captain for the first time this season.
They finally got the breakthrough that they deserved a minute before the interval when Falque latched on to Lucas Digne's throw-in to fire home and give his side a lead to protect in the second half.
