Goals from Vasilis Torosidis and Seydou Keita have handed Roma a 2-0 half-time lead over Torino in the Italian capital.
Roma needed less than eight minutes to find the opening goal as Torosidis took full advantage of poor defending from the Torino defence to fire home from Francesco Totti's inviting cross.
Torino came close to producing an immediate response, but Morgan De Sanctis was alert to keep out a curling effort from Fabio Quagliarella.
Miralem Pjanic was inches away from doubling Roma's advantage with a stunning free kick from 25 yards which rattled the crossbar.
Roma would find the second goal their play deserved before the break when Keita capitalised on space on the edge of the box to pick out the bottom corner with a low strike.
