Cyril Thereau scored in stoppage time for Chievo as they beat Roma 1-0 in Serie A this evening.
The hosts were attacking from the start, but were frustrated by the Chievo defence during the first half.
Francesco Totti and Dodo both had early efforts for Roma but the visitors' formation ensured that they had plenty of men behind the ball to get the blocks in.
Chievo found their way into the game as the opening period progressed, as Perparim Hetemaj saw his strike from just outside the penalty area curl wide in the 25th minute.
Totti almost broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time, but his powerful strike was well saved by Christian Puggioni.
The Chievo keeper was tested again at the start of the second half, as Mattia Destro tried to smash the ball in from a Maralem Pjanic delivery.
Destro, Pjanic and Pablo Osvaldo continued to push for an opening goal for Roma, but the away side continued to clear danger.
The visitors looked more aggressive as full time approach, with Felipe Seymour calling Bogdan Lobont into action in the 85th minute.
Chievo's late push was rewarded in stoppage time when Boukary Drame crossed the ball in for Thereau to tap home from close range.
